Frequently Asked Questions

If you have any questions about A Primitive Place Magazine, please read the Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ). After you have reviewed the FAQ, and if your question is still not answered, you may contact us by email at appsubscriptions@yahoo.com.

1. When are the magazine subscriptions mailed, and when should I expect my issue to arrive in the mail?

Subscribers need to allow 8 to 12 weeks for delivery from the time that they subscribed, or 2 to 4 weeks from the actual date of shipment. This time frame is industry standard.

2. Who do I contact if my magazine is always late?

If you feel that you are experiencing a delay in receiving magazines in a timely manner, please contact the publisher of the magazine to ensure that they have your correct information and that the subscription has not expired. We often find that the address given is a non-deliverable address, no P.O. Box given, or that a person only purchased a single copy and not a full subscription. So, please check your records first. The post office will not forward magazines, so please send your change of address to the publisher. If your magazine continues to arrive late, and you have already contacted the magazine publisher, please call 1-800-ASK-USPS (1-800-275-8777) to have Customer Service research the problem.

3. Why does it take you 8-12 weeks to mail my magazine?

When you purchase your subscription, it takes 7 - 14 days for it to get processed into our system. After it is entered onto a mailing list, it is then submitted to the mail house.
It then goes through a mail system process to verify that all entered addresses are
entered correctly and are deliverable. After the addresses get approved, the list gets processed and the labels are printed. Each magazine then gets inserted into a plastic mailing bag and the labels are applied. After the mail house gets the magazines ready for mailing, the appropriate paperwork must be filled out and submitted to the postal service for the bulk mailing. Once delivered to the post office, it is then processed, sorted according to zone and shipped. Your magazine may go to several locations before arriving at your destination. The postal service takes longer to deliver to some states or areas than others.

4. All of my friends have received their magazine, what happened to mine?

Once we send a shipment out, it is then in the hands of the US Postal service. Not
everyone will receive their magazine simultaneously. Due to certain variables beyond our control, such as zoning and how your local post office handles shipments, some will receive their issue earlier and some later. Be patient, your issue should be delivered within 2 to 4 weeks of actual shipment date, though maybe not at the same time as everyone else.

5. How often is A Primitive Place published?

A Primitive Place is published four times per year: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter.

6. How do I place an order for a subscription?
Please click on the button entitled 'Subscribe' on our Website or you can mail in a check or money order for your subscription to us. If you are unable to download the order form, you can write your order on a piece of paper. A one-year subscription is $40 online or $38 with a check. A two-year subscription is $72 online or $68 with a check.
Our mailing address is:
A Primitive Place
7750 173rd Ave SE
Wahpeton, ND 58075

7. How do I purchase a gift subscription?

There is a special ordering button for purchasing a gift subscription. You can also click on the regular subscription button and, in the notes, indicate the recipient's name and address.

8. Why did I receive a duplicate magazine days after receiving my first one?

If you just recently renewed your subscription, you may have purchased a 'new' subscription instead of a 'renewal.' Please be sure to 'renew' your subscription and not purchase another subscription or you will end up with duplicate issues. Please let us know ASAP if you are receiving duplicate issues and we will look review your subscription.

9. How will I know when it is time to renew my subscription?

You will receive a renewal notice with the last issue on your subscription. You can also tell when your subscription expires by looking at your mailing label. You will see 'Exp. 0226' for example. 02 is the month and 26 is the year. 0226 in this case indicates that the Feb./Spring 2026 issue is the last issue on your subscription.

10. Will my subscription automatically renew?

Subscriptions do not automatically renew unless you choose the "Sign Up for Automatic Renewals" button when you purchase your subscription.

11. How do I update my address for my subscription?

Please email us when you have a change of address. We will update your address in our mailing list.

12. Are the Special Edition magazines included with my subscription?

No, they are not included in your subscription. Our Special Edition issues began Christmas of 2024 as a way to share unused photos from past photoshoots. What started as a simple idea has grown into something much more—an opportunity to revisit past homeowners, showcase before-and-after transformations, and highlight how their homes and collections have evolved over time.
These editions have also opened the door for new features, allowing us to include homes that have never appeared in our regular issues. Unlike our subscription issues, which carry the title A Primitive Place across the top, each Special Edition is given its own unique name. With minimal advertising, these issues provide even more pages of the content you love.

13. Do you ship internationally?

We do not currently offer recurring print subscriptions outside the United States. However, international customers may purchase physical single issues and multiple-issue orders by contacting us for a custom shipping quote.

International shipping becomes more cost-effective per magazine when several issues are combined into one shipment. For Canada, approximately six or more magazines are generally much more economical than shipping one or two individually. A full shipping box can hold up to approximately 32 magazines.

Canadian Costs:

While the exact cost will vary depending on your location, this should give you a general idea of what to expect: $26.00/2-3 copies $36.00/4-5 copies $40.00/6 copies

These are standard shipping rates, not priority.

16. How do I get in contact with you? You don't have a phone number listed, and I want to call you.

You can contact us via email at appsubscriptions@yahoo.com.
Or you can write to: A Primitive Place, 7750 173rd Ave SE, Wahpeton, ND 58075. There is only one person in the office, therefore we do not have time to take calls, but do answer all emails.

17. How do I update my credit card information for automatic renewal?

If you are enrolled in automatic renewal, you can update your credit card information through our secure subscription portal.

  1. Visit aprimitiveplacemagazine.com/apps/subscriptions
  2. Enter the email address you used when you purchased your subscription.
  3. You will receive an email with a secure link to access your subscription.
  4. Open the link and select your subscription.
  5. Go to your payment information and follow the prompts to update your card.

You do not need to create a new subscription or place another order to update your payment information.

If you have trouble accessing your subscription, email us at appsubscriptions@yahoo.com, and we can help you locate your account or send you a secure subscription-management link.

For your security, please do not send credit card information by email.

18. My friend received her magazine, but mine hasn't arrived. Does that mean mine is lost?

No. Bulk-mailed magazines do not arrive everywhere at the same time.

Our mailing is sorted into different postal zones by the U.S. Postal Service. Two subscribers—even those living near one another—may receive their magazines on different days or even different weeks.

Some subscribers receive their magazine very quickly, while others receive it near the end of the 2–4 week delivery window.

Please allow the full delivery period before reporting your issue as missing.

19. My magazine arrived damaged. What should I do?

Please email appsubscriptions@yahoo.com with your name, mailing address, and which issue arrived damaged. A photograph of the damage is helpful when available.

We will review the situation and help arrange a replacement when appropriate.

20. How long does a credit card refund take?

Once we issue a refund to your original payment method, please allow approximately 2–5 business days for the refund to appear, depending on your bank or credit card company.

21. I moved. Will USPS forward my magazine?

Do not rely on USPS mail forwarding for your magazine. Magazines may not be forwarded in the same manner as First-Class Mail.

Please email your new address to appsubscriptions@yahoo.com as soon as possible. Include:

  • Your full name
  • Your previous mailing address
  • Your new mailing address

Address changes must be received before our mailing list is submitted for an upcoming issue. If an issue has already been processed for mailing, the address may not be able to be changed for that issue.

22. What happens if my automatic renewal payment is declined?

If the card associated with your automatic renewal has expired, been replaced, or declined, your renewal may not process successfully.

We use Appstle to manage our automatic-renewal subscriptions. If you are enrolled in automatic renewal, you may receive emails from Appstle regarding your subscription, renewal, payment method, or an expired or declined credit card.

These emails are legitimate and should not be ignored. If Appstle notifies you that your payment information needs to be updated, please follow the secure instructions in the email so your subscription can renew without interruption.

For your security, please never email your credit card information directly to A Primitive Place.

23. Do you offer wholesale pricing for shops and dealers?

Yes. A Primitive Place offers wholesale ordering for qualifying retailers/dealers. Wholesale pricing and shipping are different from standard single-copy retail orders.

For information about becoming a wholesale customer or setting up recurring wholesale shipments, contact appsubscriptions@yahoo.com.

24. How can I track my magazine order? My order is unfulfilled or hasn't been processed yet.

The order status shown does not always reflect whether your magazine has been mailed.

Our regular subscription issues and many single-copy magazine orders are processed through a separate mailing list system, rather than being individually fulfilled through Shopify. Because of this, Shopify may continue to show an order as "unfulfilled" or "not processed" even though your magazine has already been submitted to our mailing list or mailed.

Regular subscription and mailing-list shipments do not include individual tracking numbers.

If you ordered two or more magazines that have already been released, your order will generally be shipped directly from our office and will include tracking. Antiques and Miniature Mercantile items are also shipped directly from our office with tracking.

For orders shipped directly from our office, a tracking number will be emailed to you once your shipment has been prepared.

If you are unsure whether your magazine has been mailed, please email appsubscriptions@yahoo.com with your full name, mailing address, and order number if available, and we can check the status for you.

25. I ordered a single copy of a magazine. When will it arrive?

How your single-copy order is shipped depends on whether you ordered a newly released current issue or a back issue.

When a new issue is released, we send three mailing lists for that issue. If you order a single copy while those mailing lists are still being processed, your magazine will be added to one of the upcoming mailing lists. These shipments do not have individual tracking numbers and generally take approximately 1–4 weeks from the mailing date to arrive.

Once all three mailing lists for a new issue have been sent, any additional single-copy orders for that issue are shipped directly from our office. Orders shipped from our office generally arrive within approximately 2–14 business days after shipping.

Back issues are always shipped directly from our office and generally arrive within approximately 2–14 business days after shipping.

26. What is the difference between the regular Fall issue and the Fall Special Edition?

The regular Fall issue and the Fall Special Edition are two completely different magazines.

The regular Fall issue of A Primitive Place is one of the four regular issues included with an A Primitive Place subscription. The cover will carry the A Primitive Place magazine title and say the season and the year.

The Fall Special Edition is a separate publication with its own title and must be purchased separately. Special Editions are not included with a regular subscription. They always have a different name than "A Primitive Place" and will note the month and year it is released, as opposed to the season.

For example, in 2026:

Fall 2026 = the regular Fall issue of A Primitive Place and is included with an active regular subscription.

The Season of Gathering = the Fall 2026 Special Edition and is a separate purchase.

The same applies at Christmas. The regular Christmas issue is included with an active subscription, while the Christmas Special Edition is a separate publication and separate purchase.

If you are unsure which issue you ordered, please check the exact title on your order confirmation or email us with your name, mailing address, and order number.

27. I ordered a Special Edition Bundle Pack. Why didn't all of my magazines arrive together?

Special Edition Bundle Packs may contain magazines that are released at different times throughout the year. Purchasing a bundle reserves all of the magazines included in that bundle, but it does not necessarily mean they will all be mailed together.

If a magazine included in your bundle has not yet been published, it cannot be shipped with the magazines that are already available. Each new Special Edition will be mailed after it is released.

For example, if you purchase a bundle containing a Fall Special Edition and a Christmas Special Edition, you may receive the Fall Special Edition first. The Christmas Special Edition will be mailed later, after it has been published.

If all of the magazines in the bundle have already been released when you place your order, they may be combined and shipped together from our office.

Receiving only one magazine from a bundle does not necessarily mean the other magazines were forgotten or are missing. They may simply be upcoming issues that have not been released yet.

28. When are the regular issues of A Primitive Place released?

A Primitive Place publishes four regular issues each year:

Spring Issue — approximately mid-February
Summer Issue — approximately mid-May
Fall Issue — approximately mid-August
Christmas Issue — approximately the end of October

These are approximate release times and may vary slightly from year to year.

An active regular subscription includes all four regular seasonal issues that fall within your subscription period.

Please remember that the release date is not necessarily the date your magazine will arrive in your mailbox. After an issue is mailed, delivery through the U.S. Postal Service can take approximately 2–4 weeks, and subscribers in different postal zones will receive their magazines at different times.

29. When are the Special Editions released?

Our Special Editions are separate from the four regular subscription issues and must be purchased separately.

Special Editions are generally released approximately 1–2 weeks after the corresponding regular seasonal issue.

For example, a Fall Special Edition is typically released approximately one to two weeks after the regular Fall issue, and a Christmas Special Edition is typically released after the regular Christmas issue.

Special Edition release dates may vary, so customers who do not want to miss a new Special Edition should sign up for the A Primitive Place email newsletter, where we announce new releases and ordering information.

30. Does ordering a single copy mean I have a subscription?

No. Purchasing a single copy means you are purchasing only the specific magazine listed in your order.

A single-copy purchase does not enroll you in a subscription and does not include future issues.

A regular subscription includes four seasonal issues per year: Spring, Summer, Fall, and Christmas.

Special Editions are separate from both single-copy regular issues and regular subscriptions and must be purchased separately unless they are specifically included in a Special Edition Bundle Pack.

7750 173rd Ave SE

Signs and directions will be posted on the property when you arrive to help direct you to the appropriate parking area.

46.  Is the show accessible?

The show is held outdoors on a country property rather than on a fully paved event site.

Guests should expect grass, fields, gravel, and other natural or potentially uneven surfaces throughout portions of the show and parking areas. Guests in past years have successfully navigated the show grounds using both wheelchairs and walkers without issue.

47. Can I bring a wagon or cart?

Yes. You are welcome to bring a wagon or cart to carry your purchases throughout the show.

If you purchase a large or heavy item, we can also assist with transporting purchases to your vehicle using our golf cart when possible.

For larger pieces, you may also be able to pull your vehicle closer to the purchase for loading after you are finished shopping. Please ask us or the dealer for assistance.

48. Do vendors accept debit or credit cards?

Payment methods are determined by each individual vendor. However, most vendors will accept cash, debit cards, and credit cards.

There is no ATM on the property, so please come prepared. We recommend bringing cash in addition to a debit or credit card, especially since individual vendors may have different payment policies.

49.  Is there an ATM at the show?

No. There is not an ATM on the property.

Please bring any cash you think you may need with you. Most vendors accept debit and credit cards, but payment methods are ultimately determined by each individual vendor.
